Get Skittles Rich is a bonafide online pyramid scheme. The only catch is that you can get Skittles Rich, not money rich.

 

I worked as part of the creative team to come up with the concept and the general structure. I determined the mechanics of how the pyramid would actually work and how points would be distributed. I also coded the visualizer that showed your points and where they came from.

 

The creative team came up with the basic idea of a Skittles Pyramid scheme. They came to me to see if it was remotely possible to actually build it. After some thought and Ponzi research I determined that yes, we can build it!

 

For the pyramid to work, people needed to sign up and then get their friends to watch their video and get sign up. We'd give each user a unique copy of the video that we could track and a unique URL for sign ups.

 

I worked out a cascading and diminishing points structure that gave everyone a chance to win, even if you were signed up underneatch someone else.

 

We worked with Oddly Studios to generate unique videos for each user that all appear to be exactly the same but were slightly different enough to not be flagged by YouTube as duplicates.

 

I used CreateJS to build the pyramid visualizer. It is a personalized interactive infographic detailing where each user got their points.
